Stephen King (born 1947 in Portland Maine) Stephen King is surely one of the world's best known authors, of horrorstories he is fore sure. His works were and are for most part still Bestsellers and most of them have been made into movies immediately, with more or less quality. Stephen King is lecturer of hte Hampden Academy and lives with his Family in Bangor. King started writing stories when he was a student in highschool and dealed with almost every topic of horror literature existing. Seldomly he appears as director or actor too.

Taken exemplarily: The Stand (Weltbild-Verlag 1997) .The Stand is about the eternal fight between good and evil. After an accident in an american experimental laboratory a virus is set free that kills 90% of the earth's population within weeks. In this time Randall Flagg appears, a demon that sees his hour come, to extinct the human kind totally. He collects all the evil souls of the few surivors to lead them into the final battle with a group of humans, that an old woman inspired by god has collected around herself and that is about to create a new society, a village, and the old order again. The story is told with the examples of specific fates in each camp. In the end Flagg's plan is sabotaged by one of his men that in state of psychic disorder blows up an atomic bomb in the demon's camp.
