(A child was buried under the foundations of
the buildings to make them more stable.)
The demon Detinez took merciless revenge by making
life in this town so horrible, that all the inhabitants left.
Later, there was a new city built at the same place,
which was called Nowgorod. (novy ogrod means “new garden”)
