Zuylenburg Castle![]() The 'Langbroekerwetering' is a watercourse that flows from Driebergen till Overlangbroek in the province of Utrecht. Over the whole length of it lie a lot of castles. It starts with Sterkenburg in Driebergen, then follow Leeuwenburgh, Molenstein, Weerdesteyn, Hindersteyn, Lunenburg, Walenburg, Sandenburg, the gate-house of the disappeared Groenesteyn and finally ends with Zuylenburg in Overlangbroek. The last one is a very simple living tower, build in the fourteenth century. In the fifteenth or sixteenth century a new wing was build to the house, and they highed up the old house. Later they removed the new wing again. ![]() Zuylenburg Castle hidden behind the green. It was in this house that in 1527 the lord of the house, cought a soldier on fishing in the moat. The soldier was shot as a punishment for this crime. His friends decided to revenge his death by storming the house and kill the lord.
