Wittenburg Castle

The place where Wittenburg Castle was built is very old. The castle was built in Wassenaar, in the province of South-Holland. The house was developed from a farmhouse, which was built in 1553. From 1784 on the house became a very beautiful country house. In 1901 the present house, a fancy castle-like mansion, replaced the house.

The house is used as a place where one can hold conferences.

The builder of the last house, Helenus Marinus Speelman, hung himself in the tower. If he is the one that is haunting the house is not sure, but certain is that the house is haunted. The ghost is called William by the staff. The ghost likes to fool around by replacing the crockery and switching the lights on and off, etc. In the attic and in the hall there are some cold zones, and in the tower you find suddenly lots of dead flies. In the tower you can also find a chair that can't leave the tower anymore, and unseen footsteps are heard. Once they asked a medium to find out what was going on, but he or she fled before any problem was solved.

The tower is one of the most haunted places of the house.
