Rensumaborg![]() Nearby the present Rensumaborg in the village of Uithuizermeeden in the province of Groningen stood in the earlier days the Stenhuisheerd. The earth swallowed up this house, because the lord of the house was too late for mess. He killed the priest who didn't want to celebrate a new mess. The lord of the house killed the priest with his sword. The lord got home and after he and his family sat down for diner, the earth opened and the table including the whole family sunk into the ground. The maid ran out of the house and called for help, but when they came back the rest of the house had sunk into the earth too. They tried to safe a chest, but in vain. Since then several creepy ghosts haunt the place. The cries of the lord still can be heard at the place where the old house stood. ![]() Rensumaborg, a small castle at the very north of the Netherlands.
The name of Rensuma is first mentioned in 1623, when William Fockes lives there. In 1700 the house was rebuilt, and restored again in 1758. After the death of baron Onno Tamminga van Alberda the house was sold in public, and is since 1829 property of the Van Swinderen family.
