Henkenshage Castle

One of the most attractive places in North-Brabant.

One of the two castles left in St. Oedenrode in the province of North-Brabant is Henkenshage. Build in the fifteenth century as the dwelling of a nobleman. The present form is from 1850 when the house was rebuild as a small castle.
Not the house, but the park is the scene of our ghost.
The poet William of Haren, wellknown to William IV of Orange and Queen Anne of England, committed suicide by taking poison. One of the reasons was, that he had enormous money problems, because his house was besieged by mad farmers who were fined by him, and they had ruined everything. He still haunts the garden and the park, but never enters the house.
